Density Tracers are filled plastic particles which are used to determine partitioning characteristics of density separators and other units accurately, rapidly and at low cost. Density Tracers are available or can be manufactured with the following characteristics:

• Cubic Particles: with edge lengths from 1mm to 64mm or more
  
  
• Crushed Particles: with controlled shape factors to mimic raw coal or ore in sieve sizes from 1mm to 32mm or more
  
  
• Densities: from 1.24 to 4.5 RD units
  
  
• Density Tolerances: Manufacturing tolerance is controlled to suit the application. For coarse coal separations the Partition Enterprises standard is that every particle should be within 0.005 RD units of its nominal density.
  
  
• Identification: The density of each particle is shown by engraving, ink-marking, colour-coding or a combination these techniques.
  
  
• Colours: Tracers can be coloured for ease of retrieval and/or identification.
  
  
• Special Properties: They can incorporate fillers to give special characteristics; for example, ferromagnetism or fluoresence under X-rays or ultraviolet light.
